
Dhaarna Anand
Born and raised in New Delhi, India, Dhaarna Anand is a trained actor based out of the GTA.
She has a diploma in Acting for Film, TV and the Theatre from the Toronto Film School (TFS)
and has extensive experience across screen, traditional stage theatre and street-theatre
(nukkad naatak) both in India and Canada.
On screen, she has portrayed diverse leading and supporting characters in short films such
as Knotty, Same Time Next Year?, Lavender Hill and A Mere Misunderstanding, and has also
starred in several mobile vertical reels (microdramas). She has acted in silent shorts such as Taken: A Nap and has also appeared in several commercials, including campaigns for
FreshCo and Instacart.
On stage and in street-theatre productions, Dhaarna has been part of esteemed productions
such as Those Who Are Lost, Our Country’s Good, Chowk Ka Deepak and Satyamev Jayate at
TFS as well as with her college’s theatre society Vayam. At TFS, she has had the honour of
having been trained by industry professionals such as Chris Jacot, Matt McDonald, Catherine
McNally, Daniel Ramnauth and Aaron Willis. Additionally, she has done a few improv shows
and has also hosted her own student talk-show called Dish with Dhaarna.
Fluent in English and Hindi and conversational in Punjabi, Dhaarna brings a multilingual and
multicultural lens to her work and is committed to sharpening her craft and telling stories
that feel honest, lived-in, and deeply human.
