Job Posting – Seniors Program Coordinator

A Season for All

Approximately 4 hours/week – more or less based on project needs

Rate: $25.00/hour

SAWITRI Theatre Group works to present insightful stories through the arts, to transform the way South Asian
society perceives the role of women, to understand and value cultural differences and other diversities,
bringing to the community works reflective of these differences and help build a global community based
upon shared values and collective narratives. The Universe Over 50 are passionate creators deeply committed
to exploring interactions across and between diversities and developing unique women’s stories that are
divergent, universal while exploring and celebrating the lives of women, who are over 50. A Season for All is a
collaboration between SAWITRI Theatre and The Universe Over 50.

Job Responsibilities:
- Work with the partnership to achieve the program plan in an organized, positive way
- Organize and run four one-hour online, monthly group session for four cultural groups
- Experience leading cultural sharing and celebration sessions
- Working with the support of a senior mentor to support participants sharing cultural celebrations
through art, music, singing, writing or poetry as it relates to the
- Expertise at providing positive guidance and feedback
- Experience creating a safe, welcoming and supportive environment.
- Regularly report to the Executive Director/leadership on program progress
- Maintain records and statistics such as attendance and group session feedback
- Excellent skills facilitating groups, conflict resolution and keeping activities on track
- Set up online seniors’ group sessions via zoom and ensure participants are supported to log in. Basic
technical support to join online groups.
- For in person group sessions, arrange for refreshments, room bookings with the facility
- Prior to program launch, set up online meetings for the program mentorship group
- Assist the mentor volunteers to engage, motivate and communicate with participants
- Provide mentor volunteers with coaching, motivation and support
- Mobilize the mentor volunteers to reach out to senior cultural groups
- Liaise with resources and in person location contact for room and theatre booking
- Plan the monthly session to build towards a November community celebration

  • Promoting the community celebration at a theatre by creating and sharing flyer widely
  • Organize post activity focus groups to evaluate and debrief; create online surveys
  • Qualifications:
    • Five years of experience working in multicultural setting with staff, clients and volunteers from
      different ethno-racial backgrounds
    • Experience working with seniors’ community and social services
    • In-depth understanding of senior issues
    • Knowledge of resources for senior fraud prevention and elder abuse prevention
    • Experienced in coordinating and working with volunteers: recruitment, orientation and training,
      placement, recognition and evaluation is strongly preferred
    • Knowledge and networks in the settlement and seniors’ serving services and community
    • Experience in working in collaboration with community organizations
    • Excellent interpersonal skills and computer literacy are required
    • Attention to details and excellent organizational skills are required
    • Self-directed, self-motivated, able to work independently and as part of a team
    • Able to work flexible hours, some evenings and weekend work
